Storm Captain Announcement

30 Sep 2019 by Janelle Tucker

We are proud to introduce this season’s Storm Captains.

Storm Captains are those who have displayed leadership qualities and a commitment to the Storm program and the future of our upcoming players, having come through Storm themselves from a young age. This season’s captains are all current U18 boys.

Our 1st captain is Oliver (Ollie) O’Driscoll. Oliver has been playing for Storm since 2013 as an U12 coached by Tom Boxer. Locally he plays in our SDBA comp as well as participating in the weekly DNSP program run by Frosty. As a Storm Captain, Oliver is really looking forward to helping with the other teams.

Our 2nd captain is William Sherriff. He has also been playing for Storm since U12s in 2013, under coach Tom Boxer. He plays in our local comp as well as participating in DNSP every week. As a Storm captain, William wants to learn more about leadership and what it means to be a good leader.

Our 3rd captain is Tom Welk. Tom has been playing for Storm since starting as an extra young U12, under coaches Caleb Vears and Trent Murgatroyd. He also plays locally and participates in the DNSP program. As well as this, Tom plays district basketball for Eastern Mavericks and was recently awarded the MVP in their U16 Boys Div 1 side. He has also represented SA country since U13s, and earlier this year, represented SA Country in the state U16 boys team over in Darwin. As a Storm captain, Tom wants to see the role be more meaningful and wants to have a positive impact on younger players and give back to the Storm program.

As you can see, we have 3 amazing young people who are keen to be involved and we can’t wait to have them work with our players. These boys will be regularly out at our trainings to assist the coaches when an extra set of hands is needed. You will also see them at carnivals where each of them will sit on the bench for our younger teams and offer extra support and encouragement.

Congratulations to these boys! We look forward to seeing them all out doing their thing over the next few months!

P.s A massive thank you to Frosty for doing the introductions today!!
